Orange Business Services, a subsidiary of France Telecom, has confirmed a raft of new contracts for its Solutions for Operators arm, among them two regional firsts in Lebanon and Cote D'Ivoire.
The company will implement the Levant's first IPTV operating platform for Beirut based development company Solidere. The service will be launched in January 2008, when it will be available to 20, 000 customers.
Lionel Reina, VP of Orange Business Services in Eastern European, Middle East and Africa, said that the company was witnessing a growing demand for IP-based services in the region, particularly from property developers, as telco services can open up alternative revenue streams.
"We have experienced double digit growth in the region for the past four years and that's a trend we want to continue in the near future," he said. "With the amount of new contracts we are winning, it all looks very possible."
Orange Business Services has also announced the completion of Africa's first IP-based Metro Ethernet Backbone network design for Cote D'Ivoire Telecom.
"For incumbent operators in many developing countries the impact of competition, deregulation, convergence and the complexities of a transformation to an all-IP operating environment bring immediate and significant challenges," said Reina.
Additionally, Telecom Egypt's ISP arm, TE Data, will link up with Orange to upgrade its core network capability due to increased demand DSL and IP-based services from its enterprise customers. Elsewhere, Orange will tie-up with Moroccan carrier Wana to deliver MPLS services infrastructure to a Casablanca business park set for completion in 2010.
