Safeboot, exhibiting alongside its regional partner, EMAX Secure has experienced huge interest in its range of mobile security products at GITEX Technology Week.
"As mobile data storage products have ballooned in popularity, so too have the risks associated with data leakage," explains Daan-Jereon Hakkert, channel manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa for SafeBoot.
The company specialises in mobile data protection, covering laptops, PDAs and USB devices. "This sector has grown in a major way in the United States, Europe and Asia, so it's no surprise that we're seeing a high level of interest in these solutions at GITEX," adds Hakkert.
The Dutch-headquartered company met with decision makers from the UAE and Saudi Arabia in the opening days of the show and took the opportunity to promote port control solutions. "Mobile storage devices such as MP3 players and USB sticks which are capable of storing huge quantities of data are a genuine security concern for the private and public sector alike. Port Control is a scalable, enterprise-wide solution that uses access control to prevent the unauthorised use of devices that connect to serial, parallel, USB and Bluetooth ports, among others," says Hakkert.
In response to tough legislation roll-outs, maintaining the safety of sensitive customer data has been thrust to the forefront of many company IT agendas. "Within the banking and financial service sector preventing data leakage has become a top priority across the world," says Ran Kalsi, Middle East managing director, EMAX Secure.
Public sector departments have also proved keen at the show. The company has been invited to launch into the testing phase with a regional government ministry whilst at the show, and received invitations to tender for other public sector contracts.
SafeBoot recently entered into a partnership with HP to encrypt the hard disks of selected laptop and tablet PC models. "One version of SafeBoot was customised to meet HP's requirements and is now integrated as a hard disk encryption program in the HP ProtectTools Security Suite," says Hakkert.
