The makers of the EditShare project sharing software will unveil version 5.0 in Amsterdam this year.
For the first time, both Avid and Final Cut Pro users will be able to open up and work on the same projects simultaneously. This means that assistant editors can arrange clips whilst a journalist works on organising a package or editing a promo and a senior editor can review the material at the same time.
Authorised users on the EditShare network have access to the source material, works in progress and finished packages.
EditShare 5.0 will also feature a new Read Only option. The new Maintenance Mode will limit users to delete and modify files. Easy deployment into networks is now possible with the "Plug and Play Network Configuration" that allows workstations to simply plug into the EditShare network and access any media or other network content.
Media files can now also be duplicated across two or more servers regardless of whether they be side by side or on different continents. Administrators will be sent a daily e-mail informing them of their server's status and performance.
