Saudi Oger picks up $300 million project in Jordan

Saudi Oger Construction Company has picked up a US $300 million (JOD212 million) construction contract for the Boulevard at the downtown Abdali project in Amman, Jordan.
The client is Abdali Boulevard Company, a subsidiary of Abdali Investment and Development.
Work commenced on 4 August and is set for completion by February 2010.
The Boulevard project's construction, located in the heart of the Abdali new downtown, will comprise of a total built-up area of 224,000m2 divided into 118,000m2 (above ground), and 106,000m2 of parking and four service basement levels.
The Boulevard will consist of a pedestrian strip bordered by 12 buildings with an average of nine storeys each. It will also have over 130 retail shops, 400 five-star serviced apartments and 27,000m2 of office space.
Jamal Itani, CEO, Abdali Boulevard Company, said in a statement: "Amongst the 25% of the project Abdali PSC retains, we prevailed developing the Boulevard, in order to set the construction standards for other developers within the new downtown."
