Air France plans growth in Bahrain
by Robeel Haq on Tuesday, 25 September 2007
Air France has announced plans to significantly increase its cargo activities at Bahrain International Airport.
The service enhancement, which is effective between November 2007 to March 2008, will connect Bahrain to a number of locations around the world, including Lisbon, Dhaka, Hong Kong and Cairo. The airline is also planning to increase the frequency of service from Bahrain, from three flights a week to four flights a week.
"The open skies policy adopted by Bahrain's Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) to liberalise the aviation industry, coupled with its marketing efforts to attract new airlines to Bahrain, has resulted in Air France Cargo increasing its frequency," said a CAA spokesman.
"The decision is driven by the increase in demand for air cargo at Bahrain International Airport. This is also a reflection of the strong growth demonstrated by Bahrain's economy and the boom in the services sector, real estate and heavy industries."
