Dhabi contracting has won a contract for Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group's retail project, the Mall of Arabia. The MEP tenders for work on the project are due back by 10 October.
Dhabi Contracting will undertake the civil works package for phase one of the mall.
The mall will be served by district cooling, Empower is building two 60,000TR plants for the project. The network construction is due to begin within the next month.
"The scale of the mall has a built up area of 10 million ft2 (929,000m2) and requires almost 50,000m3 of chilled water," said Alex Vacha, director, City of Arabia.
"The Mall of Arabia presents a major logistical challenge which will involve more than 4,000 labourers, 120 engineers and 21 tower cranes," said Sami Edward, general manager, Dhabi Contracting.
Located in Dubailand's City of Arabia, the mall is due for completion in 21 months from the start of construction.
The Mall will have direct access to a dinosaur theme park, which will be linked to the rest of City of Arabia. The complex includes a mix of hotels, commercial and residential real estate.
