Dubai's luxury desert hideaway, Emirates Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, has been listed as one of the top 20 hotels in Africa, the Middle East and Indian Ocean Islands by Condé Nast Traveller, UK.
The Emirates Hotels & Resorts property, situated within the 225m Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is the only Dubai resort to feature in the list, which is compiled from reader feedback.
It was favoured by 79.6% of respondents who rated the traditional Bedouin oasis encampment on numerous criteria including ambience, design, location, facilities, food, rooms and service.
"We are honoured to represent Dubai in this prestigious list comprising the best of worldwide hospitality. We are also delighted that our meticulous attention to maintaining the highest possible standards of guest accommodation, comfort and personal service has once again been rewarded by the readers of Condé Nast," said Emirates Hotels & Resorts vice president Tony Williams.
"We have created a traditional Arabian home environment that is entirely in balance with the surroundings, while offering guests an intimate, romantic and private experience of luxury in the desert."
Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa features 42 individually designed suites that combine conventional Bedouin architecture with modern day comforts.
Each features its own artwork, antiquities, hand crafted furniture, rugs and carpets and boasts panoramic views of the Hajar mountains and the surrounding nature reserve.
