Azimut-Benetti’s boasts

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Tuesday, 16 October 2007

At its annual conference, the Azimut-Benetti group confirmed its position as the boating industry's largest private group, closing the year with a production value in excess of Euro 800 million, while the Group's order book has reached a value of over Euro 1.5 billion and orders for megayachts over 24 meters totals 3597 meters, a figure that represents the sum of the lengths of all the boats ordered.

Continued growth and a proposed 25 new models across its Azimut, Atlantis and Benetti brands accompanies planned investments of Euro 220 million in the 2008-2010 period, which will be used for the expansion of its production facilities, to support innovations in processes and products, and for Research & Development. In addition to production capacity expanding over 30 per cent in the next three years, investments in Research & Development will be concentrated, among others, on the application of Fuel Cell technology, which will make it possible to have yachts equipped with hydrogen-powered electric generators. Such an innovation will reduce the environmental impact of onboard power generation while also increasing onboard comfort and is currently being tested on a lab boat, the Azimut 50K.

The Azimut-Benetti Group's growth is also underpinned by support for the inward development of the knowledge capital for its Human Resources by investing in educational training aimed at all organisational levels for a total of over 2,500 involved employees and more than 70,000 hours of training. In addition, the Azimut-Benetti Group has launched its Azimut School, an internal school to develop the specialised technical skills of its employees, with courses already started in the fibreglass and carpentry sectors.
