Contracts for Flamingo Creek project imminent
by Lauren Willington on Wednesday, 17 October 2007
Contracts for the construction of National Properties' $108 million Flamingo Creek project at The Lagoons development are expected to be awarded in November.
Designs for the residential project were drawn up and approved by masterplanner and developer Sama Dubai in just three months.
Adel Lootah, CEO, National Properties, said that construction should get underway in January next year.
"We are encouraging contractors to come forward. We have finished the design and now we are in the tendering stage."
Flamingo Creek will be a low-rise development built next to the Ras Al Khor road and will be in prime view of the Ras Al Khor bird sanctuary.
It is also a regulation that the view of the Ras Al Khor sanctuary remains unobstructed.
The project will be made up of apartments and townhouses, shops, restaurants, health clubs, swimming pools as well as a school district.
The low-rise buildings will act as a buffer to the high rise developments within the centre of The Lagoons.
"The unique thing about the project is the location, which is almost within a good distance of the high rise buildings. I think the market needs lower density properties," added Lootah.
National Properties is also behind Skycourts, a 2,300 apartment development in Dubailand.
The company also has plans to undertake projects outside the UAE as a sub-developer "We are looking at doing work outside [the UAE]. We have been in discussions with master planners as a sub-developer rather than a master planner," said Lootah.
