UAE-based BK Gulf Facilities Management has been chosen to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services to the Atlantis hotel resort on Nakheel's Palm Jumeirah island, a senior official at the hotel has told Facilities Management Middle East.

Atlantis Director of Facilities Martin Molloy said BK Gulf will operate under the standard operating procedures of resort operator Kerzner International and bring those forward to the guest areas and back of house.

"We did not really go to all the facility providers in the local market, as it made a lot of sense to strongly look at BK Gulf because of its design, engineering and installation input," Molloy said. "Also, there's a wealth of additional benefits that you can't put a monetary value on."

Commenting on the contract win, George Shields, General Manager of BK Gulf, said: "The appointment of BK Gulf as the facilities management team for the prestigious Atlantis project demonstrates our ability as a total MEP service provider.

"Understanding the complex systems and interfaces between all services is essential to being able to offer effective maintenance procedures. Our knowledge of the MEP gives us this critical information."

BK Gulf has also been involved in the installation of the MEP work, during the construction of Atlantis.

"Our Contracting team can hand over the systems to our FM team who will then take this quality installation and ensure we maximise the efficiency and life cycle of the building services," Shields added.
