GMMOS optimistic about Kazakhstan

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Monday, 05 November 2007
Kazakhstan could be a key market for the Middle East oil industry’s international expansion.

The oil and gas industry in Kazakhstan is growing, with business opportunities reaching new levels. The Gulf Marine Maintenance and Offshore Service Company (GMMOS Group), a Dubai-based equipment manufacturer, supplier and provider for the oil and gas, shipping and construction industries, is one company anticipating strong prospects from within the Caspian region.

"There is room for growth in virtually every sub-sector associated with oil extraction, processing, and transportation with prospects including geological exploration, hydrogeology, drilling, research and data management, oil spill cleanup technologies, and pipeline equipment and services," said Elias Nassif, president and CEO of the GMMOS Group in a statement.

Following a presence at the Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and conference (KIOGE) held last month, the GMMOS group hope to get a stake of foreign investment allocated to Kazakhstan's oil infrastructure development, worth a projected US $140 billion.

"Our presence in KIOGE gave us the opportunity to meet with existing and potential clients from the Caspian region and the rest of the world and we have received highly encouraging signs to believe that GMMOS Kazakhstan's, already successful market presence will develop together with the country's massive growth potential," said Nassif.

GCC oil and gas service providers have the opportunity to gain much from Kazakhstan's burgeoning sector and untapped natural resources.

Having specialised in the fabrication of pressure vessels, process skids and process piping, the GMMOS group is setting itself high standards, and are hopeful about the future of its presence in Kazakhstan.

GMMOS Kazakhstan operates out of the Caspian port city of Aktau, the country's only sea access point earmarked for commercial traffic.
