Is the Middle East ready for the REPs?

The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), which has been set up to help safeguard and promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of fitness instructors, is looking to expand its global network to include the UAE.
Cliff Collins, UK registrar, said: "We're gearing up to put into place processes to help individual exercise professionals and countries to develop registers which operate on the same standards and principles we use."
This follows the launch of the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) earlier this year.
ICREPs is an affiliation of registers in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the European Union (EREPs). Its purpose is to promote the recognition of qualified exercise professionals through the co-operation and affiliation of national registration schemes and to promote the transferability of professional registration.
First established in the UK, the REPs is a system of self-regulation for all instructors, coaches, and teachers involved in the exercise and fitness industry. It provides those working in the industry with a list of approved training providers.
