Following the launch of a mobile movie making initiative among students two weeks ago, Middle East Broadcasting (MBC) executives have now revealed the TV broadcaster is planning more serious investments in filmmaking.
Already, MBC's founder and chairperson, Sheikh Waleed Al-Ibrahim has invested a significant sum of money into Mark Gill and Neil Sacker's film finance, production and international sales company, the Film Dept.
This firm plans to produce approximately six Arabic-language feature films a year for theatre goers in the Middle East.
MBC's film group is tentaively slated to launch at the end of 2008.
