A new media internship scheme has been announced by Showtime Arabia and the Young Arab Leaders (YAL) group.

The pay-TV network will open its doors to Arab undergraduates studying relevant subjects, as well as graduates with less than 2 years experience. Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience across several areas of the media industry including programming, marketing, business development and sports programming.

"Showtime internships, which are part of an ongoing strategic alliance with YAL, provide the selected young Arabs to be trained in an international media environment and to take an actual step in voicing their opinion via the Showtime channels," said Marc-Antoine d'Halluin, Showtime Arabia president and CEO.

"With over 370 channels and three pay-TV networks, the regional media industry has witnessed an unprecedented growth in the last decade. Showtime Arabia is committed to train, employ, and develop young Arabs who share our passion for the media field," added d'Halluin.

Saeed Al Muntafiq, outgoing YAL chairman and executive chairman of Tatweer said "Passion, creativity and innovation are some of the characteristics that ensure that a person is successful and reaches the top of the ladder in his or her chosen career. YAL and Showtime Arabia aim to instil these traits in the interns. We also hope to provide them with the leadership qualities that are required in the workplace around the globe."
