Aruba Network's president and CEO Dr Dominic Orr, has launched the company's ‘all wireless workplace' solutions in Dubai.
The all wireless workplace is based on 802.11n access points, which Orr claims give all the capabilities of wired network access in terms of speed and results.
"On top of that, Aruba has added two more attributes. One - the ability to prioritise traffic in the air, to prioritise mission critical traffic like patient monitoring information in a hospital, for example. Second, how do you ensure end to end security? How can you ensure sensitive personal or credit card information can be kept private? No matter where you work, in your home, office or a hotel room, you should still get the same right of access. With the all-wireless workplace Aruba is providing a new technology platform allowing a new way to build the internet so that users can access high speed internet in a secure manner anywhere they are," added Orr.
The Aruba technology offers security through centralised encryption and by assigning access and security policies to the user in its user-centric architecture. The technology also supports all standard wireless encryption models, including WPA 2.
"The most unique implementation aspect is that our access points do not open up any packets, they will go end to end until you hit your datacentre and then the packet gets opened up. We have a very secure centralised encryption/decryption capability which means that in the middle between your client and your datacentre you can have an insecure network - extranet, internet and so on," explained Orr.
Aruba Networks is a publicly owned company listed on the NASDAQ and is just under six years old. The company holds a 15% market share for overall wireless networks for enterprises and the dominant position for large enterprises, according to Orr, and counts companies such as Microsoft, SAP, Google and Yahoo among its clients. Orr added that the Middle East represented one of the top three growth focus regions for the company and that large clients in the region include Saudi Aramco.
