Al Tayer targets high-end profits

Dubai's Al Tayer Group plans to ratchet up investment in luxury retail after securing a string of new deals.

The company has joined forces with Italian design jewels group to make its regional debut with its new boutique at Burjuman Centre in Dubai.

"The arrival of our brand in Dubai marks an important stage of our expansion strategy. The Dubai market is without doubt a very important one for a sector like ours, an absolutely prestigious international showcase," said Guido Damiani, president and managing director, Damiani.

Al Tayer Group - present in 12 countries with its 5,000 strong team and franchisee of luxury international brands including Armani, Gucci and Ferrari - has also signed an agreement to introduce @home, a South African chain of homeware stores across the GCC.

The group aims to open more than 20 stores within the next three years. Part of the Foschini Group, @home was launched in 2001, and the chain has 50 stores concentrated on to the mid to upper segment of the market.

The stores in the Middle East will have a contemporary design, spread across a minimum area of 3500 ft². The product portfolio includes merchandise for the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, general home décor, home appliances and office accessories.

The chain recently launched its @homelivingspace brand, offering contemporary furniture, lighting, and décor accessories.
