Luxury redefined

Commissioned by Trident International Holdings and designed by Andrew Bromberg, Aedas' executive design director in Hong Kong, Pentominium aims to be the Middle East's tallest and most luxurious residential tower. To be located in Dubai Marina, Bromberg's team was faced with a unique set of challenges: they had to design the 120-storey building in what has become a very dense location and they had to consider how to fuse their thin, lightweight, 111,730m² design with Dubai's harsh environment.
To address these challenges, the southern face of Pentominium will incorporate a system of balconies and a vertical layer of glass to mitigate solar gain. The layer of glass also functions as a large windscreen by getting progressively wider as it nears the top of the building.
Scheduled for completion in 2010 and marketed as a ‘bouquet of luxury' Pentominium has formed alliances with some of the most premier brands on the market. "Our aim is to create the new benchmark in luxury living," says Trident executive director and CEO, Wazir Ali Daredia.
To that end, Hirsch Bedner Associates, who did Trident's first residential development in Dubai Marina, will design the individual residences - each of which consumes an entire floor. The 100th floor will comprise a Davidoff cigar lounge and Swarovski crystal will grace the common areas. Bang & Olufsen will provide state-of-the-art audio equipment inside the homes, while Rolls Royce and Azimut Yachts, under the direction of Quintessentially, will transport residents to and from them. Tiffany & Co. will provide stationery in the business centres and Six Senses will provide spa services. "The building will be iconic, and its residents exclusive. They will be living in a piece of history," says Daredia.
