Arabsat and the International Company for Digital Media, the firm in charge of operations and management of Melody Entertainment Limited have signed a deal. The deal will see several Melody channels including Melody Hits, Arabia, Aflam, Tunes and Trix broadcast via Arabsat Bader-4 satellite. These channels will be added to Arabsat's list through the allocation of a transponder bouquet to the international firm.
"We chose to work with Arabsat because it owns a fleet of satellites widely spread in the region covering the Middle East and more than half of the European continent unlike other satellites in the region," commented Jamal Ashraf Marwan, chairman of the board of directors of Melody Entertainment limited Company. "This is in addition to the possibility of expansion with new channels on Arabsat satellites unlike other satellite operators that do not have enough capacity."
The deal also enables Melody Entertainment and the International Company for Digital Media to offer a wide range of new services to its customers.
Khalid Owais, managing director of the International Company for Digital Media added that leasing a transponder bouquet on Arabsat meant that all current and future Melody channels could be watched on one frequency. "This transponder has the EPG feature - the electronic directory for viewers to all Melody channels. This feature does not exist on Melody channels on any other satellite. Additionally, we have equipped some Melody channels to be broadcast via High Definition system on Arabsat in the near future," he stated.
