Emirates Post trailblazes green solutions

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Saturday, 24 November 2007

Energy Management Services (EMS) has won a contract from Emirates Post to implement green building solutions at its existing offices and those currently under construction.

The move will make Emirates Post the first federal corporation to commence the process of achieving LEED certification, by adhering to the international rating system and standards for environmentally sustainable construction.

EMS will evaluate Emirates Post's new and existing offices through an Energy Efficient Architecture (EEA) analysis, aimed at reducing energy usage and lowering costs.

"As the national postal company, Emirates Post has a responsibility to establish high benchmarks of quality and service and this includes pioneering greater corporate responsibility for environmental management. Our alliance with EMS will ensure that we provide the highest standards of service available by becoming a certified and responsible organisation that focuses on saving water, electricity and costs," said Abdullah Al Daboos, director general, Emirates Post.

EMS solutions are designed to improve air and water quality, reduce waste streams, conserve natural resources and promote energy efficiency.
