RAK wants to tap into a new high-class area
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Thursday, 22 November 2007
RAK Ceramics will use the Big 5 to launch several new products, and to showcase its diversification into high-class faucets.
The company has launched a series of new products in tiles and sanitaryware.
The move is part of the company's commitment to offer its customers new models on a regular basis.
One of the new range of tile products is ‘The Lounge Series', which will be produced in ‘gres Porcellanato', the Italian name for porcelain tiles.
Others include the metallic-look models such as Paradox.
Through its joint venture with Germany's KLUDI, the company has diversified into the manufacturing of high-class faucets and mixers suitable for bathrooms and kitchens.
The joint venture will have a modern manufacturing set up at Ras Al Khaimah, close to the RAK Group's manufacturing complex, covering over 2,000,000m2.
Around 1 million pieces a year of bathroom fittings will be manufactured at the plant.
The products to be manufactured will include mixers, showers, drainage fittings and related accessories.
Among the latest sanitaryware models that will be on display during the show are Empire, Metropolitan, Reserva, Rondo, Shino, Mistral, Venus and Arcadia.
New bathtubs include Metropolitan and Reserva.
RAK ceramics has also developed special toilets for disabled people, plus new bathroom furniture and mirrors.
RAK Ceramics is today a frontrunner in the ceramics industry and boasts current worldwide sales of US $500 million (AED 1.8 billion), with its Ras Al Khaimah operations having notched sales of $370 million last year.
"Over the past 16 years, RAK Ceramics has created the largest and most exclusive product lines in the ceramic world with new styles offered every month, appealing to all market segments, such as interior designers and architects; engineers, major retail chains, corporates, do-it-yourself retailers and home owners," said Dr Khater Massaad, CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah-based company.
Massaad added: "We are confident of improving our reach and volume, though it is a very competitive market everywhere we operate. But we are steadily reaching that stage where the most respected buyers are now vouching for our designs and quality."
