The innovation of sustainability

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Tuesday, 27 November 2007
Sanyo PLC-XL50.

Sanyo Middle East area sales manager Sudhirr Nagaraj talks to Hotelier Middle East about three products suited to the hotel industry and the firm's commitment to the environment.

What's your role at Sanyo?

I am responsible for sales of projectors to the GCC and Middle East markets; for collecting customers' and AV consultants' feedback and for further enhancing the sales and features of Sanyo projectors.

What unique requirements do hotels have when it comes to projectors?

Hotels need projectors which are bright, require less maintenance and which are highly reliable and I would say that all Sanyo models are compliant with these requirements.

Are there any particular challenges within the hotel industry that your projectors help to overcome?

Sanyo has models which are brighter, have less power consumption, are capable of 24/7 operation, require less maintenance and can provide 360° projections. No other models in competition with Sanyo have such features. All Sanyo models are suited to use in the hospitality industry and are user friendly.

How are you looking to expand your work with hotels in the Middle East?

With the above mentioned features I'm sure that hotels could opt for any of the Sanyo models and they would be able to fit their requirements. Last but not least; Sanyo is a very competitive brand in terms of costing.

Please can you explain your ‘Think GAIA' concept?

GAIA is the Greek Goddess for the Earth, so Think GAIA essentially means Think Earth. Sanyo pledges to treat the Earth as a single living organism, and create the products we truly need to continue living in harmony with this precious planet. The new brand vision illustrates the kind of society and world that the Sanyo Group aims to create from its position as a leading provider of environment and energy related products and services.

Is this a reaction to the current interest in environmental issues?

This vision may appear as a reaction to the current global interest in sustainable development and environmental awareness; however the reality is that Sanyo has a history of pioneering technology and expertise suitable to this vision and spanning several decades. With more than 30 years experience developing solar energy systems, development of devises that kill airborne viruses and commercialisation of a washer/dryer that uses the ozone in the air to clean clothes and thus conserve water, the vast lineup of sustainable products at Sanyo provides more than ample evidence to back up our claim as a leading provider of environmental and energy related products.
