Dubai-based Alomi Real Wood Flooring has secured a deal worth potentially a million dollars at the recent Index trade show.
The firm said it has been contracted to supply US$39,000 worth of Grade A teak decking for the construction of King Abdullah Economic City in Saudi Arabia.
Alomi CEO Albert Douglas told Commercial Outdoor Design that the parties agreed the deal at the show after being impressed by Alomi's display at the show.
The decking is to be used for part of the landscaped area as well around various swimming pool areas, he said.
"This is a great opportunity for us because it gives Alomi a stepping stone into the Saudi market," said Douglas.
The client, whose identity was not revealed, purchased 1000m2 of decking as an initial deposit, Douglas said, adding that the purchase order could be extended.
The estimated area for the first phase is 26,000m2, he said.
King Abdullah Economic City is a multi-billion economic project under development by Emaar in Saudi Arabia.
Alomi has also supplied decking to the Dubai Hilton, and Mall of the Emirates.
