First Halal World Expo in Abu Dhabi this month

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Saturday, 01 December 2007

The inaugural Halal World Expo will bring together Halal buyers and suppliers from across the world when it opens its doors from December 9 to 11 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The Halal food market, which is currently worth US$150 billion a year, will be a main focus of the event with exhibitors from the areas of food production, canned products, agricultural products, dairy and meat products at the exhibition.

Halal lifestyle products, including Islamic fashion and cosmetics, will also be showcased, as will Islamic Finance, with financial institutions promoting Shari'ah compliant products and services.

"By focusing on globalising quality Middle East Halal products, [the Halal World Expo provides] both regional and international exhibitors a gateway to penetrate the Middle East and international markets," said Christine Weaver, exhibition director, Halal World Expo.

Show organiser IIR Middle East aims to make Halal World Expo an annual event, although it may change location in future years.

Exhibitors from around the world have booked space, with stands expected from Canada, South America, the US, the UK, France, Bosnia, Turkey, South African, Swaziland, Saudi, Kuwait, Pakistan, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Australia and the Middle East.
