HA-AD closes licence loophole

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Wednesday, 05 December 2007

The Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HA-AD) has enlisted the help of an external body to ensure healthcare professionals' qualifications are valid.

Beginning 1 January 2008, health professionals working in Abu Dhabi's private sector seeking to renew their licence will undergo Primary Source Verification (P.S.V). The process is designed to independently corroborate an individual's qualifications and nationality.

The PSV process may take up to 60 days to complete and HAAD is advising candidates to submit applications at least 90 days prior to their expiry date.

Health professionals who have previously had their documents verified will not be required to undergo the process.

Earlier this year the authority inked a deal with a global screening firm, Integrascreen, to verify all new licence applications in a move to tighten regulations.
