French company can bring designs to life

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Wednesday, 28 November 2007
Vectuel: bringing designs to life.

French company Vectuel debuted at the Big 5 with its new modeling service that will help urban planners and architects.

Virtuel City can recreate an urban environment on a computer, which can then be manipulated as desired to see how new buildings and urban designs will look once completed.

"The software has been ten years in development and will be of interest to anyone involved in real estate, architecture and urban design," said CEO, Fabrice Simondi.

Vectuel takes high-res aerial images of an urban area and uses the software to generate a 3D map.

The company's ‘SNAPCAR' then drives through the area to be modelled and photographs building façades, which are then incorporated into the map to make a virtual area that the user can then ‘walk' around.

Future projects can then be added to the map, enabling designers and architects to see how their designs will relate to the existing area.

"Virtuel City is also useful for real estate firms," said Simondi.

"Demand for real estate here is very high, and our software will help vendors show potential buyers exactly what their purchase will look like before it's even built."
