UNESCO Education centre hooks up with Trapeze WLAN

by Mark Sutton on Monday, 10 December 2007

The UNESCO Regional Centre for Educational Planning has completed deployment of a wireless LAN to connect staff and guests at its Sharjah office.

The centre, which focuses on developing educational planning capabilities in the Gulf region, has rolled out Trapeze access points and switches and Avaya IP telephony. The project also includes wireless IP telephony using Nokia's E61i Wi-Fi handsets.

"UNESCO has chosen Trapeze because of its high-quality products and services and extensive technical know-how, giving us the confidence to entrust to them such a critical component of our organisation. The upgrades have enhanced our ability to fulfil our mission of strengthening the educational capacity of the region in terms of modern planning and management," said Taha Mostafa, Head of IT, UNESCO Regional Centre for Educational Planning.

The deployment was carried out by Trapeze partner, PRO TECHnology, over a 30 day implementation.

Feras Zeidan, Regional Manager, Trapeze Networks commented: "Trapeze solutions offer the best value and can be customised to suit any environment or requirement. The UNESCO project presented its own challenges which have been excellently addressed by our Smart Mobile Wireless LAN solution. The success of this installation displays our strategy of developing Wireless network solutions that cater to the needs of different clients, such as hospitality, government and educational institutions."
