US-based Halal meat supplier Midamar has launched a new consultation service for companies in the Middle East, to become available in January 2008.
The move is targeting regional firms bidding to capitalise on huge market growth in America and break into its US $16 billion Halal food and Muslim marketing opportunities.
The news was announced at this week's Halal World Expo, a new industry event developed in response to figures indicating the global Halal food market is now worth an estimated US $2.1 trillion a year.
Midamar has more than 30 years' international trading experience, and will offer extensive market research and local expertise to aid Middle East producers with strategic investments into the booming US Halal industry.
"There are vast opportunities for Halal businesses in the UAE and other parts of the Middle East to take advantage of the growing Muslim community in North America," said Jalel Aossey, director, Midamar Corporation.
"Midamar is looking to develop strategic partnerships and alliances with Middle East companies to cultivate the opportunities for growth in America. American Muslims spend around US$170 billion on consumer products and our advisory consultation service will help Middle Eastern businesses take a share of that spending."
Midamar has also used the Halal World Expo as its platform to showcase a range of new Halal products, soon to appear on supermarket shelves across the region.
Midamar recently launched a similar consultation service in America to help US restaurant franchises determine the best approach for establishing a business presence for their goods or services in the Middle East.
The company is currently working with three major US businesses looking to expand new and existing operations in the region.
"The relationships Midamar is building with businesses in America and the Middle East highlights the truly global sphere of the Halal industry," said Christine Weaver, exhibitions director, Halal World Expo.
Halal World Expo features Halal lifestyle products, including Islamic fashion, cosmetics and healthcare products, and also focuses on Islamic Finance, currently worth between US$200 and $500 billion annually.
