Enpark launches solar tracker

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Wednesday, 12 December 2007
The solar tracking system can produce an output 40% higher than conventional solar systems.

The Middle East's first solar power tracking device has been installed at the Dubai Knowledge Village by TECOM Investments firm Energy and Environment Park (Enpark) in partnership with Switchpower, a leading Swedish renewable energy company.

The solar tracker is an advanced photovoltaic (PV) power system that uses sensors to follow the sun during the day. The mechanism ensures that irradiation levels are optimised on the tracker system's module surface, increasing output by more than 40% compared to conventional systems.

Ali bin Towaih, Enpark commented: "Green energy is central to sustainable development, especially in a fast-growing economy such as the UAE. Solar power provides significant environmental benefits when compared to more conventional energy sources. As a practical and cost-effective option to save energy, this initiative will be linked to other facilities at TECOM Investments."
