The five finalists were from Emirates Flight Catering - Food Point, Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Coral Deira Hotel and Radisson SAS Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek.

"The competition aims to identify and reward the Middle East's leading chefs and promote creative ways of using high quality American rice in all kinds of dishes," said Eszter Somogyi, program manager, USA Rice Federation.

"We have received tremendous support from Chef Uwe Micheel, President of the Emirates Culinary Guild, and thank him for helping to make this event so rewarding for all involved."

The competition was judged by a panel including Chef Uwe, Chef Massimo Venturelli and Chef John Redding, who evaluated each dish on its taste, presentation, creativity, hygiene and skills and working methods required.
