by Alison Luke on Wednesday, 09 January 2008
MEP contractor Voltas has won a contract to provide a district cooling plant for Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Under the contract the firm will construct a 44,000TR plant to serve the DIFC development.
Voltas will be responsible for the overall project management, process plant and MEP services installation for the plant. "We have the letter of award and are due to start work on site as soon as we have the building permit," stated Shaukat Ali Mir, Voltas regional director and deputy COO.
"This is one of the largest contracts awarded by Empower," he added. The contract period for the project is 300 days.
Voltas will act as the main contractor for the project. It is due to award the contract for civils works by January 2008, with an industry leading firm expected to be appointed for the job.
