The promotion of Middle Eastern artists is top of the agenda for Dubai's The Third Line art gallery for 2008.
The gallery has revealed plans for 10 exhibitions throughout the year, as well as a regular Arab Film series, a monthly bi-lingual Arab literature circle and talks from artists.
The gallery recently picked up the Inspirational Leadership Award at the Lloyds TSB Small Business Awards, for which it was rewarded the use of a new Toyota Yaris for12-months, courtesy of sponsors Hertz UAE.
The specially designed car, decorated in artistic designs from the gallery, will promote the gallery and be used to transport visiting artists around when they visit Dubai.
"The Third Line is playing an important role in the development of the local art industry," said Hertz UAE general manager Bob Farrow.
"I hope this award helps the gallery to achieve further success in Dubai and throughout the Middle East."
The Third Line gallery represents emerging contemporary artists from across the Middle East in local, regional and global markets, and strives to place them in international art fairs and exhibitions.
The gallery represents artists from across the Middle Eastern, including from Morocco, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Libya, Pakistan and the UAE.
The next exhibition at the gallery, ‘Fabricated: Painted works by Pouran Jinchi', will open to the public on Saturday January 19 and run until Thursday February 14.
