Oasis turns the spotlight on client training services

Basel Al Aref, GM of Oasis Enterprises’ professional projects division.

Professional AV and broadcast equipment distributor Oasis Enterprises showcased a range of cutting-edge lighting technologies as part of its inaugural professional lighting seminar staged in Dubai last month.

The event also played host to the Middle East launch of the new Clay Paky Alpha 300 lighting fixture range. A selection of other lighting hardware and associated technologies was also on display.

"It is difficult to showcase something like a lighting desk out of context," said Basel Al Aref, GM of Oasis Enterprises' professional projects division. "To demonstrate the power of the console you have to use it in conjunction with various lighting fixtures, as we did at this event."

Al Aref said the seminar aimed to provide Oasis' key clients the opportunity to take a hands-on approach with the assembled technology.

"A console is a very creative tool; it's like a brush to a painter. Manufacturers will always claim their products are the best available on the market, but such claims are of little use to clients if they can't be put to the test," he claimed.

"The fact that we went to the trouble of setting up a full wireless DMX lighting system demonstrates our commitment to the market and our clients in the region."

The event also attracted the involvement of representatives from each of the lighting manufacturers on show, including Italy's Clay Paky, Element Labs of the US and German-based Rosco.

"Over the course of the three-day event these representatives each met with around 45 clients," claimed Al Aref.

"Ultimately, it was a great opportunity for both parties to do business in a relaxed environment."

Each daily session was dedicated to a specific market category or technology, such as broadcast, entertainment and architectural lighting.

"The seminar included in-depth presentations by manufacturers involved in each of these industry sectors," said Al Aref.

"In terms of our own business, our biggest markets are studio and theatre lighting, while the architectural market is growing fast."

Al Aref also confirmed that Oasis was considering holding another series of professional lighting seminars later this year.
