Raqmiyat expands outsourcing capabilities

Systems integrator Raqmiyat is expanding its outsourcing capabilities to meet growing demand for outsourcing in the UAE, the company reports.

Raqmiyat has increased headcount and put in place expertise on service delivery management, project management, change management and technical expertise in response to the expanding demand.

IDC predicts that the outsourced IT services market in the UAE will be worth $170.5 million in 2010, some 22% of all local IT expenditure.

At present, Raqmiyat has focused on provision of IT services mainly to banks in the region. The company says it has seen increasing demand for outsourced services including network management, email management, back up and recovery, support and help desk functions for desktop computing, applications, printing and telephony and legacy application enhancement.

Tapas Roy, chief operating officer of Raqmiyat said: "The drivers of outsourcing make business sense in the UAE as they have done elsewhere in the world. Businesses in the UAE will increasingly outsource to remain competitive. Again, the traditional triggers of increasing costs, flexibility in the management of resources, user satisfaction and reduction in cycle times have contributed to this trend. Added to these are factors such as leveraging the provider's extensive investments in technology, methodologies and people, and reducing the burden of managing IT resources while retaining control of strategic decision making."

"The increase in outsourcing is an inevitable development considering the rapid growth of businesses in the UAE, and with companies wanting to stay ahead of the competition, one of the most efficient ways to achieve this is to focus on quality internal resources and outsource non-core resources to capable partner. At a time when efficiency in support services is a critical factor towards ensuring smooth operations, we are constantly investing in the improvement of our own systems and providing adequate training to our employees to meet the demanding requirements of our clients," he added.
