Air passengers will be able to use mobile phones on Jazeera Airways flights from next year, according to the airline.
Chairman and CEO Marwan Boodai said the low-cost carrier is installing new technology, enabling travellers to make calls, send emails or access blackberries in 2009.
"We are excited to be one of the first airlines in the world to install the technology that allows travellers to use their mobile phones during flight," he added.
"The new service will be available to all passengers for a fee, and will empower passengers to continue communicating with their families or their office while on board."
The announcement was made prior to Jazeera's admission to the Kuwait Stock Exchange on January 14. Before joining the stock market, the airline's capital was US$75 million.
During the past two years, Jazeera carried 1.2 million and 600,000 passengers respectively.
