France-based ICT specialist Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Vincenzo Nesci as president of the company's business in the Middle East and Africa.
Nesci, who currently serves as president of Alcatel-Lucent's Middle East regional unit, intends to develop Alcatel-Lucent's existing business in the fixed and mobile sectors while also moving the company into other potentially lucrative markets such as energy, transport, public sector, defense and security, which fall outside the company's traditional customer base.
"The Middle East and Africa are among Alcatel-Lucent's most promising markets, and we are committed to help our customers in this region grow their business by making it possible for them to offer useful new services to the people of this region," Nesci said.
Nesci, who will be located in Alcatel-Lucent's regional office at Smart Village in Cairo, has worked in the Middle East for many years, having previously served as Alcatel's vice president for the Middle East. He joined Alcatel in 1980 and held several positions in Italy, East Africa and Belgium.
Prior to joining Alcatel, Vincenzo Nesci worked for General Electric in Libya and Nigeria, after working as a university lecturer for some years in Europe and several African countries.
