FedEx expands international economy service

FedEx has expanded its services with the Asia Pacific launch of its international economy product.

FedEx has expanded its international economy service to a number of countries within the Asia Pacific region, including China, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

The service, which includes a transit time that is typically one or two days longer than the premium FedEx international priority service, is designed for customers with less urgent shipments that can be transported at a lower cost.

Intra-Asia packages are normally delivered in two business days, and shipments to the U.S. and major markets in Europe typically in three to four business days.

"We believe there is a clear demand for a service that lies between our premium international priority express service and the regular postal service," said David Cunningham, president, FedEx Express Asia Pacific.

"Our international economy service meets that need for customers, and at the same time broadens the portfolio of shipping options that FedEx offers," he added.

The economy service is being further expanded in March, when it will be offered in Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
