Prominent judges to choose MELDA

An all-star cast of judges has been chosen to decide the winners of the second annual Middle East Lighting Design Awards (MELDA) on April 27-29.

With development projects across the region trying to distinguish themselves among the region's iconic structures, unique and creative uses of lighting in architecture has become a significant concern.

The five-person independent judges panel will include: Ziad Fattouh, senior principal of Delta Lighting Solutions; George Katodrytis, associate professor of architecture at the American University of Sharjah; Markus Stebich, director of development for Spas & Interiors, Jumeirah; Shaun Killa, principal architect and head of design, Atkins; and Riad Saraiji, associate professor of architectural engineering at UAE University.

Submissions must be received by January 31, 2008 and located within the Middle East (GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran and Egypt). Award winners will be honoured at a gala dinner in Dubai on April 27.
