ENOC introduces a new compressed natural gas fuel to UAE
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Monday, 04 February 2008
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), has been introduced to Dubai by Emirates Gas, part of ENOC.
The new fuel reduces exhaust emissions to reduce pollutants such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and other ozone depleting substances.
"As a socially responsible company, ENOC is committed to finding ways to combat the ever-increasing problem of pollution," said Saeed Khoory, ENOC group chief executive. "This is a major step forward in protecting the environment and enhancing the ecological framework within the UAE."
"With the success of the initial trial runs, we are now looking at opportunities to popularise the fuel of the future through development of appropriate infrastructure and converting more consumers from other fuels to CNG."
CNG is an alternative to petrol and diesel and many countries around the world are promoting the use of CNG in vehicles.
