Microsoft gathers government leaders for forum

Microsoft's Government Leader's Forum Arabia 2008 kicks off tomorrow, with over 250 government representatives from across the MENA region expected to attend.
The event, which takes place on Sunday and Monday at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, will focus on the theme of ‘Accelerating Arab Competitiveness', and will include keynote presentations from VIPs including Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qassimi, UAE Minister of Economy, panel discussions and case studies.
The event also marks the first visit to the UAE of Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft. Gates will make a keynote presentation on Sunday afternoon.
Charbel Fakhoury, general manager of Microsoft Gulf commented: "Choosing to hold this important regional event in Abu Dhabi and securing the attendance of Bill Gates is a clear indication of Microsoft's commitment to supporting Abu Dhabi and the Arab World as it moves toward realising its strategic development plans. Through our innovation and R&D investments, we want to ensure that the public and private sectors as well as consumers realize their potential through technology tools and platforms that drive innovation, and increase efficiency, and productivity."
