Arab Health company promotions

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Sunday, 27 January 2008

Aside from its 18-strong conferences programme, this month's Arab Health event will showcase the latest products and services from some of the healthcare industry's biggest names. These are the companies that should be on every visitor's check-list.

Getting in the zone

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), the world's first healthcare free zone and a member of Tatweer, is the lead sponsor of Arab Health 2008, the Middle East's largest healthcare exhibition.

Established to set new benchmarks with its offering of state-of-the-art medical care, research and education services, Dubai Healthcare City is committed to delivering academic and professional excellence.

Since its inception, DHCC has steadily grown its portfolio of leading healthcare providers and hosts premier international institutes. It also provides continuing education programmes through affiliations with various top tier global institutions.

DHCC's 564 sq metre stand at Arab Health this year will feature key projects such as Boston University Dental Health Centre and Dubai Institute, Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre (HMSDC), Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research (DHFMR), the Maktoum Harvard Library, University Hospital, Dubai Bone and Joint Centre (DBJC), The Centre of Planning and Quality (CPQ) and Dubai Medical Suites.

Siemens moves with trends

The world's population is growing and in many nations aging dramatically. Both trends have already led to a powerful surge in the demand for healthcare products, services and solutions.

To further ensure high-quality, patient-oriented and affordable healthcare under these circumstances, it will be crucial to fully realise all the efficiency potential in the total supply chain, from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and patient care.

Key to success is trendsetting innovations as well as powerful information technology to optimise processes across the whole healthcare continuum. Used in perfect combination, these solutions help to optimally increase the quality of care, while reducing the costs of care - and prepare the healthcare systems around the world for future challenges.

We at Siemens are proud to present at Arab Health 2008 a broad variety of products, which match the needs of today's doctors, hospitals and other medical facilities around the world.

Our portfolio to be shown includes diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, as well as solutions in information technology molecular in-vitro and in-vivo technologies, and consulting and services.

Because Siemens expertise includes building, energy, security and communication technologies, solutions from these fields will also be displayed.

Prevention better than cure

During this year's Arab Health Congress, GE Healthcare will showcase technologies and solutions that will help clinicians transform healthcare delivery from a focus on treating late disease, to a focus on early health. Today, 70 to 80% of the resources in global healthcare are devoted to managing symptom-based, advanced disease.

Shifting resources to ‘early health' and developing technologies that allow healthcare providers to diagnose disease at the earliest possible stage, when there can be many treatment options, is better medicine. It also makes simple economic sense.

"Our focus on ‘healthcare re-imagined' is about re-thinking healthcare as we know it today," said Isam Moursy, general manager at GE Healthcare for the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia and Turkey (MEACAT) region.

"It is about adopting an ‘early health' model of care."

"GE is investing US$1 billion in R&D annually to deliver innovative tools that will help physicians diagnose disease at the earliest possible stage, when there are more treatment options available - which ultimately benefits patients.
