by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Sunday, 03 February 2008
The inaugural launch of Taste of Dubai 2008, scheduled to take part in the event at Dubai Media City from February 7-9, is marked with a line-up of the city's best chefs.
Sixteen chefs from Dubai's most prestigious restaurants are confirmed for the festival including Francois Porte, Richard Sandoval, Vincenzo Gatti and Uwe Micheel.
The chefs will be showcasing more than 40 signature dishes for 15,000 visitors who are expected to attend.
"The restaurant scene here is at a very exciting stage and as such, this event will help highlight Dubai as the culinary hub of the region by showcasing some of its finest restaurants and chefs," said Cassale Sherriff, event director, Turret Group Middle East.
Multi-award winning chef Yiannis Baxevanis will join the stellar line up at this year's festival to showcase a variety of Greek cuisine from his restaurant Elia at Majestic Hotel, Bur Dubai.
"The team not only creates the masterpieces of contemporary Greek cuisine, they serve you their creations themselves, giving you the opportunity to converse with them about the recipes and the dish," Sherriff said.
Taste festival advocate and celebrity chef Gary Rhodes said the line-up is a testament to the world class talent on show in Dubai.
"I feel proud to be part of the restaurant pack and showcase some of the dishes and talent that we have to offer," he said.
