Sharjah has introduced an e-guide and directory aimed at tourists and potential investors in the emirate.
The launch of the ‘See Sharjah' guide highlights the emirate's emergence as a destination with a broad appeal to both business and leisure markets.
"We felt there was an enormous gap in information. Tourism is no more limited to leisure alone. Sharjah is fast emerging as a key business, industry, property, finance, education, health, culture, MICE and sports destination," said Abdul Aziz Al Midfa, chairman, See Sharjah.
"Over a million people visit Sharjah annually for different purposes. We understand today, business success is dependent on fast and easy access to information. It is time to tidy up the task of searching."
The guide is supported by a number of government departments - including the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Culture and Information - and will comprise of nine DVDs covering areas such as leisure; education; investment, culture, sport and MICE, with 900,000 copies in both English and Arabic being produced.
"It is virtually impossible for individuals and companies to keep using traditional methods of information. See Sharjah will provide to the point, easy-to-access information to the tourist or resident, who is also a potential investor and businessman," concluded Heballah Habib, director, See Sharjah.
