This is the second shopping mall contract that Terna has been awarded in the last few months.

Construction began in early January and is expected to take 30 months to complete.

The company is also bidding for more work across the region.Figures released at end of 2006 cited that shopping mall development in the GCC was expected to grow by 140% between 2007 and 2010.

Nakheel also plans to build a mall on the Palm Deira.

Billions of dollars have also been ploughed into new mall construction and upgrading in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
