UAE-based systems integrator, Computer Network Systems, has rolled out a two-year plan that will see the company devote most of its efforts towards developing a managed services and outsourcing strategy.

The company, which previously defined its area of focus as applications and professional services, made the repositioning announcement alongside the recent unveiling of its new corporate identity and logo.

CNS cites four distinct market trends responsible for the company's new direction, including the suggestion that there is a "lack of reliable integrated partners in the UAE" and the mounting call from IT companies for higher levels of integration.

"Increased sophistication of enterprise customers due to continuous technology innovation and increased technology expertise has led us to embark on effective innovation capabilities through internal resources and external partnerships," said Tony Alam, managing director at CNS.

Despite being a heavily UAE-focused integrator, the company has also expressed a desire to take its expertise into Saudi Arabia and is currently on the hunt for suitable acquisition targets.

CNS may well be coveting the KSA market because of the growing competition it faces in the UAE as rivals up their level of service and added value. "UAE market growth in ICT and increasing competitive pressure from local and international operations mean we have to evolve to seize outstanding opportunities and effectively manage the competition," said Alam. Despite this worry CNS still claims to hold a 14% share of the UAE ICT market.
