Al Diar Siji Hotel Fujairah has joined the elite list of five-star hotels in the region who hold Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point System certification (HACCP) having received official recognition from the global standards development group, BSI Management Systems.

The accreditation was awarded to the hotel following a series of upgrades in its F&B services, facilities and procedures according to Al Diar Siji general manager Fouad Melhem.

"We are pleased to announce that our hotel is now HACCP certified and we are proud to be one of the first five-star hotels in UAE to be compliant," he said.

""It is one of the most sought-after accreditations in the food service industry and this is just proof of our claim that we are committed to providing excellent service and world-class standards," he added.

Melhem commented that improvements to staff training programmes and the development of hygiene protocols contributed to its HACCP success.

"Al Diar Siji Hotel's bid for this certification was in line with our commitment in achieving the highest standard of food safety. We started implementing HACCP by establishing a pre-requisite program focusing on effective and auditable guidelines, polices, and procedures for the employees," he said.

"It took us about 6 months to establish and implement the whole system," explained Ghyath Fawaz, Al Diar Siji Hotel F&B manager and hotel HACCP team leader.

According to Fawaz the certification is expected to boost business resulting from improved supervisory skills of the staff, increased job satisfaction, and enhanced company image.

Al Diar Siji Hotel also received its ISO 9001:2000 certification for 2008 - a reinstatement of its efficiency in terms of quality management systems which was first granted in 2005.

"It is our goal at Al Diar Siji Hotel to always give our customers what is due them - excellent hospitality service and food & beverage at the highest quality," asserted Mr. Melhem.
