IBM has revealed its first product lineup to incorporate business intelligence solutions from Cognos.

The new solutions, which are being launched as part of IBM's Information on Demand strategy, are the first to incorporate technology from Cognos, which was acquired by IBM in November last year.

The product launch includes enhanced IBM offerings to bring improved business intelligence to banking, retail, healthcare, life sciences and manufacturing sectors.

The company also launched a number of integrated IBM-Cognos products, including a Cognos 8 BI starter pack for IBM InfoSphere Warehouse, Pre-integration of Cognos 8 with the IBM Information Server software platform, templates to integrate Cognos with IBM business process management software, a dashboard accelerator starter kit and Cognos integration with IBM's SMB datawarehouse solutions, C-Class Balanced Warehouse.

Steve Mills, senior vice president and group executive, IBM Software Group said: "Thanks to our existing partnership with Cognos, common approach to open standards and complementary portfolios, we're hitting the ground running. In the race to use information for real-time decision making, you not only need the right technology, but a global understanding of how information can be used to tackle tough business problems in dozens of industries. The combination of Cognos and IBM software, hardware, business consulting expertise and research investments clearly separate us from competitors."
