ISIT completes storage project for Leo Burnett

Storage systems integrator ISIT has completed its first major project in the region, with the deployment of a new storage infrastructure for advertising and media agency Leo Burnett.

ISIT has rolled out a complete NAS solution for the agency, to enable it to better manage a wide range of different data and to provide full business continuity and backup. The infrastructure is based on NetApp storage arrays, with best-of-breed solutions including Symantec Net Backup and Tandberg tape libraries.

The agency has over 6TB of data that required storage, including large audio-visual files for client work. The company had previously relied on primary storage and some manual tape back-up, but wanted a system that would allow proper classification of data and enable search through up to five years of data.

The solution, which was deployed in less than one month, also includes complete mirroring of data to a second location for disaster recovery. The iSCSI NAS provides complete information lifecycle management for the agency, with more reliable backup and much faster data retrieval.

Bassem Aboukhater, Regional IT Director - MENA, Leo Burnett commented: "We are well aware of the various risks that can be posed by the absence of relevant storage solutions and hence approached ISITAE to help us bridge the gap in our IT infrastructure. We are convinced that the new solutions will help us manage and store our data effectively and increase efficiency of our employees."

Netherlands-based ISIT opened its Dubai office in December 2007, to target mid-market companies in the region. Mahesh Vaidya, CEO of ISIT AE, says that the Leo Burnett project is one of the best storage architectures in the Middle East in the media sector, and highlights a growing awareness of storage among mid-level size companies.

"As companies grow, they generate and need to store vast amounts of data that is critical to their business operations. Driven by the fast growth of the Middle East, organisations across this region are realizing this challenge in effectively and reliably storing and managing complex information," Vaidya said.

"It is essential to increase awareness of the necessity of implementing data storage solutions in the Middle East, especially amongst medium sized companies. The business benefits of an integrated IT infrastructure are numerous and the positive impact of implementing the latest storage and availability solutions are not well-known in the region," he added.
