MediaPro invests in Barco

Barco Folsom technology was used in the live production of the 2006 Brit Awards.

Video projection specialist MediaPro AV has invested US$250,000 in Barco Folsom video display technology.

The purchase of the all-HD/SDI-equipped products also marks the first direct deal the Barco Events division has secured with a UAE-based rental company, according to MediaPro AV.

"As Dubai has made its mark in hosting some of the biggest exhibitions in the region, we are pushing ahead with the acquisition of new technology," said Jinesh Nair, director MediaPro AV.

"Investing is cutting edge technology is unavoidable if you want to stay ahead in this business."

Under the terms of the deal, Barco supplied three sets of ScreenPRO II HD/SDI, BlendPRO II HD/SDI, ScreenPRO controllers and the Folsom Encore presentation system.

It also supplied two HD/SDI MatrixPRO switchers (8X8).

The MediaPro AV technical team will travel to Belgium this month to receive training at Barco's headquarters.

The company also recently invested in Christie HD projectors and outdoor and indoor LED screens.

MediaPro AV recently opened an office in Abu Dhabi in a bid to further tap the UAE capital's booming tradeshow and conference event markets.
