UK company XL Video has supplied what it claims is the largest-ever array of Martin LC40 LED screens for the opening of a new flagship Lexus dealership in Muscat, Oman.
The 150 sq metre semi-transparent screen displays a series of animations and other video content delivered via a Catalyst digital media server.
The installation was coordinated by local event management firm Live Productions.
Once the screen was rigged, running and mapped, XL's in-house LED tech Joe Maekin and LED crew Jake Robertson and Graham Sharpe calibrated it to ensure it ran in conjunction with a group of high-definition plasma monitors also located within the showroom.
Catalyst operator Hugh Davies-Webb pixel mapped the LED surface to optimise the video content, which culminated in a presentation played back seamlessly via the Catalyst, with control via a WholeHog Hog 500 lighting desk.
The kit was freighted from the UK by Rock-It Cargo, which also dealt with the myriad of customs regulations and documentation required for shipping to Oman.
"When I first contacted XL Video about this project, we were proposing to use a different product altogether. However, after reviewing the brief and taking into consideration the creative requirements and practical issues, Tim suggested the Martin LC40," said David MacIntyre, Live Communications' technical production manager.
"Once installed the LED wall really complemented the architecture of the new showroom and even passed for a permanent installation. The XL team were great to work with, and I look forward to doing so again very soon."
