Tamani Hotels and Resorts unveils first product offer

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Monday, 03 March 2008
The Tamani Hotel Marina in Dubai includes many Arabic touches such as original art.

Less than a year after announcing the launch of its new brand, Tamani Hotels and Resorts has opened its first property: the 55-storey all-suite Tamani Hotel Marina in Dubai.

The property includes 120 two-bedroom suites, from 135m2; 80 three-bedroom suites, from 225m2; and nine four-bedroom apartments, from 295m2.

Tamani Hotels chief executive Alain Guernier said the property had been designed with a modern interpretation of Arabic heritage.

Rates for the property start from AED 4000 (US $1089) for a two-bedroom suite, AED 6000 ($1633) for a three-bedroom suite and AED 12000 ($3267) for the four-bedroom suites.

"We are a suite hotel, so the product is extremely spacious and tailor made for groups - families travelling together, or people from the same company travelling together - who can take a suite with three or four bedrooms and there is a large living area," he said.

"In terms of market segmentations, we can take many markets that traditional hotels can not take."

With the property opening at the end of February, Guernier predicted it would be three or four weeks before all the planned distribution channels were open.

"By the end of March, I am expecting to reach a good level of occupancy," he added.

Guernier predicted the property would attract a 60% corporate, 40% leisure business split, with 60% of the leisure market sourced from the GCC.

"One of our core markets will be the high percentage of GCC families visiting Dubai," he said.

Part of the attraction to the property would be the hotel's Sharia-compliant values, he added.

Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing director general HE Khalid A. bin Sulayem, who opened the property, said he expected more Islamic-based hotel operators to offer accommodation in the emirate in the future as the market matured further.
